Soft Launch Chest of Hope, in collaboration with Sg Wang Plaza

In conjunction with Christmas Festival, Sungei Wang Plaza and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia came together to support the welfare of underprivileged kids through the food bank initiative – Chest of Hope.

The soft launch of the food bank initiative – Chest of Hope which was held at Sungei Wang 金河广场 Plaza was launched by Mr Ng Yih Chen, Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporations, Mr Joseph Teo, Centre Manager of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporations and Mr Johan Halid, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia.

The food bank is currently open for the public to start donating from now until the end of December 2022.
This food bank pantry is located at Concourse Level in Sg Wang Plaza. Canned foods, snacks, quick meals, hygiene products and daily essentials are welcome for the donations. Shoppers can leave their donations at the food bank pantry and all the donation items will go straight to the kid’s shelter home with the aid of Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia.“ We’re pleased to collaborate with Sungei Wang Plaza to be part of the solution to reduce food waste and zero hunger. One of our objective is to help the underprivillaged with the access to food supply to reduce cost of living ” explained Mr Johan Halid, CEO of Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia.
 
In addition, a crowdfunding drive is underway throughout the month of November up till December 2022 to raise money for the kids to help them ease their necessities and daily operation of the orphanage home. Public and shoppers can donate by going to Sungei Wang Plaza’s social media to obtain the QR code which will also placed on-ground and around the malls premises.
Mr Ng Yih Chen, Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation said that “In the midst of happiness in celebrating the Christmas festival, we should not forget about the kids as we know that the kids need more love and support, especially during this challenging time. People are more than happy to be of help to these underprivileged kids,” he said.

Other than just helping out the needy with food and daily essentials, Mr Ng Yih Chen also hopes that the food bank initiatives will encourage the shoppers to donate for the needy and have lasting impact on-ground.
