Literasi Kelas Rimba Bateq (LKRB) is an outreach education initiative by Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia aimed at supporting the Bateq Orang Asli community in Taman Negara, Kuala Tahan. This programme was created for children who have little to no access to formal education, focusing on basic literacy and numeracy skills in a safe and consistent learning environment.
Every week, dedicated volunteer educators travel across rivers and jungle terrain to teach eager young minds. With no permanent building or formal classroom setup, lessons are often conducted on mats placed directly on the forest floor. Yet, the spirit of learning among the Bateq children continues to shine through.
Beyond education, LKRB also delivers essential supplies like food, clothing, school materials, and daily necessities to help uplift the community’s overall well-being. Each session is more than just a class—it is a bridge that builds trust, connection, and hope for the future.
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia believes that education is the key to lasting change. With continued support from partners and donors, we hope to expand the reach and impact of LKRB so that no child is left behind in their right to learn.
