GOMBAK, 14 November 2019 | Students who fall under B40 category can now receive food assistance through Mahabbah Food Bank launched by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, in IIUM campus recently.
Under this programme needy students who have been selected by Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD) will receive food, drink and basic needs and these items will be made available from the Mahabbah Food Bank ten times in a semester and twice in a month.
The selection of the students to receive the food assistance from the Mahabbah Food Bank programme is based on those who fall under the B40 category selected recently, according to Prof. Madya Dr. Zulkifli Hasan of Student Development and Community Engagement.
Meanwhile, the President of the Student Union, Ahmad Irham bin Dollah, said that this news should be made known to other B40 students so that they will be aware of the Mahabbah Food Bank from STADD and may apply.
The food items for IIUM Mahabbah Food Bank have been donated by some 13 companies and individuals.
IIUM became the 20th university which has established Mahabbah Food Bank for poor students following a collaborative effort by the Student Union (then the Student Representative Council) and the Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD).***
